Melitta Lattea | Design Contest

Oz was created to increase the emotional experience between the user and Melitta Lattea coffee machine through a design that allows a simplified interaction.

Analyzing the preparation process I found a good opportunity which could makes the difference between a conventional coffee preparation and a truly moment of delight.

The idea is pretty simple and is about avoiding the need of moving the glas during the preparation phase, specifically from the milk dispenser to the coffee one. (as shown in the LAttea introduction video)

Doing so, user has more time to “watch” what’s going on instead of operating more than the necessary.

How to do that?

The design of Oz has as particularity an enlarged upper glas cavity, perceived as a sort of "circle deformation" visible from the top view — it works as an additional convey channel inside the glass cavity.

Moreover, once positioned properly in the dispensing area, Oz, automatically conveys to its inside flavored milk as much as coffee without any additional operation from the user towards the glas ... and all the fluids will naturally be mixed creating a sort of delicious Lattea cappuccino alchemy of senses. (see "Oz experience description" on the 2nd chart)

Note:
- Oz material: crystal glass
- Oz measures for the proposal were based on Casablanca glas reference (same height and main diameter/without the little extra cavity)
- 3rd chart shows the context of use considering traditional glas which inspired Oz development. Hope you enjoy it! :)

very nice! there is also a ceramic cup with quite a similar shape and I think these ones fit the concept of lattea the best. good luck!!! lamarí

Hi Irenzo, simple and effective. Saw a lot of designs claiming to be a "single position" glass for the Lattea machine, but your presentation and simple explanatory graphics upheld your work. Congratulations...Cheers... Zipper01 (Marc Philipp Veenendaal)
